january 27, 2010MINIGAMES and January Encore Show
January is a good time for improv! We’ve got two shows for you this week!

In the very beginning, 8th Floor Improv was a group dedicated solely to short form improv. As the years passed, 8th Floor branched out and explored different types of improvisation, eventually choosing long form as their main focus.
But on Thursday, January 28th, 8th Floor will make a triumphant one-night return to its roots!
Get ready for a fast-paced, action-packed, adjective-filled improvised thrill ride! MINIGAMES is only short form improv, which means we’ll perform all your favorite games, as well as a few new soon-to-be classics!

Wish granted!
8th Floor Improv’s final show for the month will be January 29th. What can you expect to see? Not even WE know! But we CAN tell you it’ll be hilarious and most likely involve words.
We’re like 99% on the words thing.

january 8, 2010Matt & Ian's Farewell Message to the Fans
Matt and Ian have left 8th Floor for the big city of NYC, and they wanted to address you guys, the fans, one last time!
Dear friends,
Every time I was on stage performing with the 8th Floor Improv was the most fun I have ever had. I owe that to you. Thank you for enjoying the show. For me, 8th Floor Improv will always be a second home with a second family making faces inside. I am happy that you were there to look into the window of my home. Through all of the silliness, I have found something that I enjoy and that I find fulfilling. Thank you for being a massive part of that.
Genuinely,
Matt

The staff at the Empire State Building was baffled. I requested to be let off the elevator on the 8th floor, not the 86th floor like everyone else who had paid the $20 to ride to the top. My problem? Who would ever want to miss The 8th Floor?
Even after recently moving to New York City, I have an almost eccentric admiration for the group. Certainly, I made the best friends of my life, got to travel the country, and had some incredibly funny times, but the part that sticks out in my mind is performing for other people. Whether it was the crowd of two people or over two hundred, the audiences at 8th Floor Shows were always the reason to show up. Therefore, I thank all those who kept coming to shows, befriended me afterward, and laughed at my less than perfect ideas. I hope you all enjoyed the time as much as I did, and I hope we can meet again ion the future. Now, I must be going, as the elevator is finally on its way back down, and I’ve been stuck here for several hours.
- Ian

We’re definitely going to miss these guys, and we know you will too. But don’t worry. You’ll see them again real soon. Word on the street is they’re gonna be big.
